Our beliefs
STATEMENT OF FAITH
The Well Fellowship Vernon is located in the heart of the Okanagan valley. We are on a mission to faithfully represent God as his family on earth. What does that look like? It starts with refusing to limit Christianity to a 2-hour meeting every Sunday. It’s the ruthless elimination of any Christian traditions or practices that may prove distracting from focusing on the clear mandates outlined in the Bible. It’s to put fellowship and relationships over programs and our personal comfort zones. Our aim is to understand the truth of God’s Word and embody the power of the Spirit in our midst. That means we live intentional lives. His Kingdom come, on earth as it is in heaven.
Purpose of the church
To be the family of God. There is an inward and an outward dimension to being the family of God.
Inward- To edify, nourish and equip the body unto the likeness of Christ.
Contributor-centric and spirit-led service to one another.
Carrying each other’s burdens.
Serve with our gifts
Fellowship and Communion
Prayer
Bible-based teaching.
Discipleship unto character and Christ-likeness.
Outward- To represent and further His Kingdom on earth.
Serving in our community.
Building relationships with the lost.
Preach the gospel
Heal the sick, bring deliverance.
The Well DNA
Tightly-knit family of believers.
Focused on relationships and fellowship over programs.
Believe in spirit-led contribution from all committed believers
We believe in sharing our lives and opening our homes for one-another.
The inward expression of the body is on Sunday (At the hall) in an open setting, for the equipping of the body (not evangelism).
The outward expression is throughout the week (Currently in homes on Tuesdays): where we focus on intentionally discipling, making disciples and multiplication. We believe in building lasting relationships with people that do not know the Gospel and inviting them into our family of believers.
Believe in corporate worship meetings.
Teaching settings (where a few serve the body)
Prayer settings (Where all members pray/praise God at the same time)
Conferences with many believers gathering. Possibly once a month if we grow into multiple congregations.
Small group settings (where we learn to fellowship and all contribute)
Discipleship teams (where we practice discipleship one on one)
commitment
What does it mean to be a committed member of our local expression of the body of Christ at The Well?
It's important for mutual understanding of who to count on or grow with and what the expectations are of every member:
Desiring personal spiritual growth to be more Christ-like (Ps. 86:11).
We make every effort to fellowship with the body every Sunday and Tuesday.
Making an effort to contribute to the body.
Honoring and submitting to the decisions of the elders and body as a whole.
Responsibility to address the shortcomings of the church when we see them.
Bearing each others' burdens.
Loyalty to protect the vulnerable shortcomings of the church.
Everyone's responsibility to ask for help when the need is there.
Communication- Finding at least one moment in a day to respond and give input where needed in the communication channels used by The Well.
If this resonates with you and you’d like to join The Well as a committed member, please contact any of the leadership team at The Well or fill out a contact form.
